House Sparrow
| << |
![]() House Sparrows are noisy and gregarious and cheerful exploiters of man's rubbish and wastefulness. Whilst they are opportunists, they are now struggling to survive in the UK along with many other once common birds. They are declining in both gardens and the wider countryside and their recent decline has resulted in them being placed on the Red List.
House Sparrows can be seen all year round throughout the UK except parts of the Scottish Highlands. They can be found in the countryside and farmland and in the centre of cities and have always had a close association with man. House Sparrows breed in towns, villages, parks, gardens and industrial areas and usually nest in holes and crevices in buildings, in trees and bushes and also in nestboxes. Date: 27th January 2008 Location: Wat Tyler Country Park, Pitsea, Essex |
